The Hereford Zone Recreation and Parks Council serves the northern Baltimore County area with a wide variety of activities for children and adults. The HZRPC is a non-profit organization qualified under IRS section 501(c)(3).

Background on Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee (or simply "Ultimate") is a team sport that is played with a frisbee; its objective is to score more points than the other team by completing passes that culminate in a pass caught in an endzone. Ultimate is played outdoors on a field that is about the size of a football field. Ultimate requires a combination of skills and techniques from soccer, basketball and football. Ultimate also heavily relies on a concept called "the spirit of the game" where players call their own fouls, similar to golf. As a result, Ultimate is a fun, non-contact sport that requires participants to engage in strenuous physical activity and also practice sportsmanship.

Program Information

• The season for play is in the spring, late March through early June
• Hereford Zone Ultimate (HZU) will be a coed league
• HZU will be for high school boys and girls, grades 9-12
• Each team in the HZU will have about 15-20 people on a team, depending on total participants
• Ultimate requires 7 players on the field per team, the male/female ratio determined by the gender ratio of the league
• Field locations are TBD but will be in the Hereford Zone
• The number of teams in the HZU will either be 2 or 4, depending on interest.
• The HZU will play once during the week and once on the weekend.

Registration Cost

Registration for HZU costs $65 per registrant. As part of the fee, each participant will get a frisbee and jersey.
